Empyreon FC were beaten by backstabbers FC and their unbeaten run was canceled.
But they still stay atop the league standings with a 3 points lead. This was Empyreon's first loss since getting knocked out in the cup 2 months back. however, Elliot Bashford still scored and kept his goals tally running.
" I think the players were a bit fatigued with the cup matches and even I feared that a win was a bit difficult against a rejuvenated Backstabbers side. They ( backstabbers ) played well, passed well and eventually won. I am not taking anything from my players for this loss, nor am I blaming them for this. A draw would have been great, but fate had something else. I guess, our so called 'Jinx' is back on track after this loss ! ", said S. Imran, manager of Empyreon FC in the post match conference.
Empyreon FC play Rockers team in the second round of the cup on the 29th. as said earlier, the League will be their main priority and cup might be used to give some game time for the subs and reserves.
The match was not that good for Emperors, as Jeremy Zipper got injured and was taken off. luckily, its just an ankle sprain and he will be ready for the cup match.
apart from that, Reggie Dale is suspended for the next match. defense will be a problem for the emperors, as Rockers team have an exceptionally well built attack.
Even with such crisis situation, the manager was seen having a friendly chat with the fans at the end of the match.
He was very happy as he saw a group of fans holding a banner with words, " Empyreon rules, rest are fools ".
