In through the back door

After a late season slump and a goal drought that cost them top spot in LXM 2b, Benami and his Players side squeezed promotion by virtue of a divisional table countback.

"That last day win was crucial. Without it we'd still be a level 2 side."

"There has been quite a lot of discussion about certain teams being stronger than others from the first day. It doesn't really bother us. We lost out to a more consistent side and managed to drag ourselves on top of superior clubs at the same time."

"You just have to knuckle down and get on with it. Don't worry about what the Joneses have got next door. Concentrate on what's in your larder and how to get the best out of them."

"We've finished the season with a bare boned midfield of five, not by design but out of neccessity. We couldn't guarantee the form of certain individuals so we simply showed them the door. It was a big risk but hopefully Tuesday morning will provide us with the reward. Reine is on 17 average and we are hoping for a big jump from him. Everyone else in midfield is 14+ even Chula after his injury lay-off."

"Seventeen positives is expected and maybe 10 or 11 visibles to go with it. Here's hoping anyway. We're going to need them in LXM 1 next season."
