Pirates escape with late drama
Pirates were having the last word as
they defeated Malta Falcons in a dramatic match. The defeat means Malta
is still without a victory so far this season and only picked up
managed to get 2 draws this season.
It was a far away better performance from Malta than their previous performance as they got a deserved one goal lead in the first half. It could have been more as they threatened the goal more and they continued the same performance in early stages of 2nd half. It was looking like Mala will finally get their first win this season but their dream hope was spoiled when Ally Selbie equalized in the 71st with a diving header for Black Pearl Pirates. A brilliant free kick from Stevie Johnson later in the 81st minute gave Pearl a 2-1 lead which was then turned out to be a match wining goal for Pirates.
"We didn't played well today and our defense was very poor in the first half. They got some very good chances in the first half and could have a got a decisive lead at the half time."
"I think in the 2nd half our response was very good and we were lucky too to get two goals in the later stages of the game."
"I think a draw could have a fair result because they have performed very well and we have shown that we are strong too."
The win has left Pirates at the 2nd spot with 12 points.
