Reporter: Arun0714 Real Madrid-Champs reacted to the post-match press release by Bad Boys after the 1-1 final score at the Bernebéu.
The dirty tactics began as soon as the whistle went and in the SIXTH minute, young debutant Manfred Kohnen had to be replaced, but Sylvester Tennant was in-hand. Veteran and midfield star Maurice McDonald's absence had provided Kohnen a dream opportunity to play in the first match after his arrival! But a reckless tackle from Cliff Langley ended his dream day in six minutes. The 14th minute: The referee, "arguably bribed" as manager Sujith Krishnan put it, couldn't avoid giving RMC a penalty in the 14th minute when Facundo Butranes literally tried to end Ruud van Nistelrooy's season with a COMPLETELY unnecessary tackle! "It deserved 2 straight reds", said Krishnan later. But the referee didn't take out EVEN A YELLOW! Luckily, van Nistelrooy didn't receive most of the intended damage. The penalty was coolly converted by Rory Ravenhill. STILL, Bad Boys weren't done. Later, in the 17th minute, midfielder Roy Keane turned his attention on Raúl and making sure the referee's and line-man's views were blocked, HEAD-BUTTED him to give him a very worrying broken nose! TV replays indicate Keane's head's general direction was towards the heart, but Raúl got his head down JUST in time! STILL no booking!!!!! It took all 8 remaining players on the pitch to prevent Zinedine Zidane to show Keane how it's REALLY done.
Keane and Langley WERE later booked for shirt pulling and BRUTAL PLAY respectively, but not before Langley's cross provided Bad Boys the equaliser with Ned Bond heading in.
After the match, apart from the already mentioned ones, manager Sujith Krishnan had these comments:- "Totally biased refereeing! We deserved the win, not them. It's like listening to those ESPN Star folks ranting on about Chelsea and Arsenal after they've played like $#!%! I guess not having Maurice DID have an impact... But we're STILL not out of the race by any means. Gunners have had a dream start, but with all due respect, I don't expect them to stay top and we're just 2 points off the 2nd spot. Maybe I'll be proven wrong by Gunners and Bits. We'll have to wait and see...
The next league match is AWAY TO SPARKS UNITED, and RMC will have a fit and ready squad for the clash. Even Raúl will be available for selection. But before that, there will be an away friendly against Samuelll's Hornsey Hornets on 24th- the same day as the Cup Final!...
